Biography
He is a specialist on Mass Media, Theatre and Communication Studies. He teaches and conducts research in Sociology of the Media, Nollywood Studies and African Cultural Dynamics. He is also a Professor on adjunct at the Federal University, Otuoke, Nigeria. Dr. Omoera is widely travelled and has over a hundred publications in specialist books and leading journals across the world. He is credited to have pioneered scholarly inquiry into the Benin video-film spine of Nollywood Studies. He enunciated the “Active Volcano Paradigm” for the study of English as a language of mass communication, with reference to broadcast media news in Nigeria. He has served as a resource person to national and international organizations such as the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), the Centre for Black Arts and African Civilization (CBAAC), the European Union Technical Assistance to Nigeria’s Evolving Security Challenges (EUTANS) Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Media Roundtable, among others. Dr. Omoera is a practicing Christian. Apart from engaging in orphanage visitations in some communities in Edo State, Nigeria, using the Osakue Omoera Foundation, he does a number of other volunteer work.
